The Peachtree Project ACT Prep Course

Peachtree Project ACT Prep Course Description

The purpose of the Peachtree Project ACT Prep Course is to assist students in preparing to take the ACT Test. This program will provide an overview of the test, practical test taking strategies and an opportunity to complete a simulated full-length ACT Test.

Eligibility: This course is recommended for Sophomores, Juniors or Seniors who plan to take the ACT test in the next nine months. Juniors and seniors will receive priority placement up to the registration deadline. All late registrations will be accepted only as space allows.

Course Duration: The course will take place over five (5) consecutive weeks.  Sudents will meet on line on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and will attend three (3) live sessions on Saturday mornings.

Cost: The course fee is $299.00, payable to The Peachtree Tree Project. This fee must be received prior to the first session.

Course Scholarships: Scholarships are available for students in need. Partial and full scholarships will be awarded through a scholarship fund. Students wishing to seek assistance should click here to complete the online applications.  2 partical scholarships are awarded at the beginning of each ACT Prep Course based on a minimum number of student enrollments.

Attendence:  Students who agree to take this course will be asked to attend the ACT Prep course on pre-determined weekdays or weekends and take the full-length practice test on a scheduled Saturday morning*. Attendance and tardies to class will be recorded. Excessive tardies are disruptive to the class as a whole. All students are expected to arrive on time, participate in course activities and discussions. No refunds will be given for students who fail to attend or who are removed due to behavior or other circumstances. In case of unforeseen school events, the dates of classes may be adjusted as necessary.

*At the end of the course, students will be expected to attend one Saturday session. This day will offer students the opportunity to take a full length ACT Test in a full length, timed testing situation. Tests will be scored to give a guideline of what level the student is currently testing at.

Behavior: This course is designed to guide students through strategies that will help them prepare well for the ACT Test. Students who behave inappropriately, choose not to participate actively or misuse resources available to them will be removed immediately and no refunds will be given. All Peachtree Project rules and guidelines, including, but not limited to, use of technology, eating/drinking, and misuse of property will be enforced.

Curriculum: This course is most specifically designed to help students be familiar with the ACT Test. It is NOT an academic tutoring opportunity. Students will explore question styles and samples for all four areas of the ACT test (reading, English, math and science), as well as sample prompts for the writing portion.

Other skills/strategies that will be addressed will include: what does the real test look like, how to take a timed test, how to approach questions that you don’t know how to answer, how to organize and write an essay in 30 minutes, how to maximize what you know, and other test taking strategies.

Registration:   Click the image below to complete your registration online.  Deadlines for registration are generally two weeks prior to the first session date.
